Requirements (also known as job requirements) refer to the desired qualifications and performance prerequisites that a job holder must meet in order to adequately perform a specific task within a given situational context.
These requirements represent the link between a job and an individual’s personal characteristics. Therefore, it is essential that requirements or types of requirements are framed in terms that align with personal qualification characteristics (see qualification). For instance, the Geneva Scheme is one such attempt to categorize these requirements systematically.
By establishing clear job requirements, organizations can ensure that employees possess the necessary skills and attributes to succeed in their roles, thus improving overall job performance and satisfaction.
