« Back to Glossary Index

Expatriates are employees sent by the parent company, typically in managerial roles, to oversee foreign branches or subsidiaries of an internationally active company. These employees are usually seconded from the company’s headquarters for a limited period of time. This practice is a key element of International Human Resources Management and is often referred to as a Foreign Assignment.
