In the context of job analysis, “requirements” (also referred to as “work requirements” or “qualification requirements”) refer to the expectations regarding the human (performance) prerequisites necessary for a specific task in a situational context. These requirements must be met by an employee to adequately fulfill the task. They serve as the link between job characteristics and personal traits. Thus, it is only meaningful to define such requirements or types of requirements that can be identified as personal qualifications.

An example of such a classification is the Geneva Schema, which attempts to categorize and structure the requirements for job roles.
